KKD02 Koh Ker Discovery FROM JUST $149
Prasat Thom (Koh Ker)
A photographically rewarding; flexible 2 day mini tour combines the beautiful pink temple of Banteay Srei, a stunning jungle trek to the waterfall of Kbal Spean and incredible remote temples.
You are rewarded with fantastic lush countryside along with the dramatic sight of Prsat Thom - a massive pyramid temple built in the ancient capital of The Angkor Kingdom. This is truly a 'lost city'. Imagine you are an explorer here and also at the amazing jungle temple of Beng Mealea!
Meet local families and enjoy a homestay for one night.
Kbal Spean & 1000 Lingas
We start off 7:00 am to the small Hindu Temple of Banteay Srey. It has fabulous carvings and is best seen before 8:00 to 9:00 am. We have time for a coffee or snack before continuing.
We have a short drive along the south of Koulen mountain to Kbal Spean and the 1000 Linga Valley. It is a steep climb through beautiful jungle to the upper river. The waters from the spring which feeds the Siem Reap River, wash over the 1000 year old Lingas and cascade down to a lovely waterfall. Ancient carvings of Hindu deities and animals dress the stones and hundreds of brightly coloured butterflies complete the scene. We continue to Koh Ker for a sunset visit and back to the village of Sray Yong; where we stay overnight at a small guest house.
We have an early start and most of the morning to see the rest of ancient city of Koh Ker. There are around 35 major temples spread over an area of 20sq Kms. Most of the temples are of brick, built over 1000 years ago. Some are in remarkable condition; others are in a picturesque state of ruin. It is a photographic wonder; especially in the rainy season.
We have lunch at Prasat Thom; then drive to Beng Mealea; where we spend a couple of hours exploring this exciting jungle ruin; which for many is the highlight of their trip to Cambodia.
