Overview of Myanmar

Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, has a wealth of interest for the visitor and photographer.
From the old colonial city of Yangon through the wonderful landscapes of the Inle Lake and the Fabulous temple city of Bagan; you will see some of the most photogenic countries in Asia.
The old city of Rangoon, now Yangon, has at its heart the magnificent Shwedagon Stupa. Said to be clad in 60 tons of Gold; it is fabulous by day; but after dark it is a glittering gold spectacle.
The are many impressive Buddhist sights and a lot of old British Colonial buildings including some fine Victorian Gothic churches and vibrant markets.

The Ancient city of Bagan has over 3500 Brick stupas, many are over 1000 years old. To see the panorama of these temples post dawn, with the backdrop of hills, is one of the most exciting views in South East Asia. The interiors have remarkable paintings and most temples have there Buddha Statues intact.

Situated in Shan State Inle Lake has magnificent temples, mountain scenery and fascinating lifestyles of its fishermen and farmers.

The warm hearted and friendly nature of the People of Myanmar is one of the things that make this country so special. Uncorrupted by mass tourism the people here are very happy to meet visitors.
Free from the repression of the last few decades, there is a sense of openness and freedom that was not possible even a year ago. The country is changing fast with new economic activity and improvements to the infrastructure.

As of August 2012 those who fly by MYI Airways can get a visa on arrival. Otherwise you will need to apply for Visa in advance.
Bring Cash USD in mint condition if its not new it wont be accepted. Credit Cards are not accepted and there are no ATMs for foreigners
